The stylish Flinders Hotel Deck Bar Bistro allows you to sit back and enjoy the sunshine during the day or the warmth of the fireplace and outdoor heaters when it turns chilly. You’ll be wowed by the warmth of the spotted gum decking, the marble topped tables outside and wood tables inside and the friendly atmosphere, not to mention the great food. The new area seats 50 inside and 75 outside on the magnificent timber deck which converts from an alfresco outdoor to an indoor space when the roof is closed.
Take in the surrounds of Flinders, and the flowering native garden resplendent with vivid Kangaroo paws, while enjoying one of our delicious cocktails, a glass of beer, spirits or fine wine (there’s an excellent selection of Australian wines, featuring many of Victoria’s finest vintages including from the best local Peninsula wineries, specially chosen by wine consultant Peter Mitchell, along with other superb regional offerings and imported wines to complement the menu).
But where to start with food selection? You can choose from taste-tempting starters like oysters, the chef’s selection antipasto or house-baked herb bread with an array of dips; not to mention entrées including soup, seafood and classic salad choices. Then there’s pastas and mains including beer battered fish, chicken options along with local Peninsula-grown beef, or the perennial favourite, seafood basket. And the kids aren’t left out either, with a varied selection so you’ll find something they enjoy. But remember to leave room so you can choose one of the irresistible dessert offerings too. All consistently good quality and value for money.
Tuesday Roasts & Thursday Curry & Casserole Nights
Mark your diary for the special promotions at the Flinders Hotel. Tuesday nights you can enjoy a traditional roast with seasonal vegetables and all the trimmings for only $20, then add a yummy desert for only $5 more. You’ll certainly want to be there when our Sous Chef Jason Smith makes his famous Chocolate Fondant!
You won’t want to miss Thursday nights at Flinders Hotel either, when our chefs take all the hard work out of preparing dinner for you with their curry and casserole options. Better than a home-cooked meal for only $20 – and you don’t have to clean up afterwards.
Seasonal menu
The menu changes seasonally, along with regularly-changing specials to enjoy as well, plus there’s options to meet special dietary needs, like gluten-free and vegetarian meals. Children are catered for with a range of suitable choices and all children’s meals come with salad or you can order steamed vegetables.
There’s also a play area where children can enjoy themselves with parental supervision.
Plus there’s a big screen TV so you won’t miss out on the latest in sport, and being open 11am till late every day, the Deck Bar Bistro is just another reason the Flinders Hotel is one of Australia's great pubs.
The Deck Bar Bistro is open 11am till late every day. Lunch is available from 12.00pm - 4.00pm and dinner from 5.30pm - 9.00pm, with anything from the sweets display refrigerator, along with tea and coffee, available all day. Due to the ever increasing popularity of the Deck Bar Bistro, the small Private Dining Room, with its open fireplace and fully clothed tables, will be open as an extention of the Deck Bar Bistro, offering the same great menu but with full table service (at a 10% surcharge).
Children under 12 will not be permitted to dine in the small Private Dining Room (the playground cannot be seen from this room and parents would be unable to supervise their children while they are in the playground and no children’s menu will be available).
Flinders Hotel does not take bookings for the Deck Bar Bistro, only for the small Private Dining Room, so if you prefer to dine in our more intimate Private Dining Room, with full table service, you can call us on 03-5989 0201 to make a booking.
